The River Hills Chorus of Wainwright, Alberta director is Connie Coleman.
Connie devotes her boundless talent and enthusiasm for the love of the Chorus, for the love of music, for the love of singing in harmony and for the love of the women who sing.
Connie has played an active role at the chapter level since her days as a charter member. Her commitment is unquestionable, as a chorus member and later as a director at rehearsals, performances, and fund-raising activities.
Her exemplary commitment has also been evident over the years as Connie has taken on key administrative and musical roles as section leader, tape listener, music team member, costume committee member, team leader and casino chair. She willingly took on the role of director when the chorus was suddenly left without a director.
In Connie’s first year as director the chorus improved an outstanding 59 points in their competition pieces. These results can be attributed directly to Connie’s advanced musical skills, her keen ear, her gift for encouraging the best from the whole chorus - both long term members as well as new ones and for the confidence she instills with her consistently positive attitude and warm personality.
The dramatic improvement in results reflects Connie’s superior dependability and follow through, her hard work and her organized commitment to the work of the chorus throughout the week. Her regular communications to the members helps support focused individual practice and her organizational skills bring efficiency and effectiveness to chorus practices.
Under Connie’s direction members themselves have become bolder in singing in small groups in the community for special events such as Christmas. This has provided opportunities for the chorus members to be more visible in the community and also to raise funds for the chorus.
Connie humbly exemplifies the best of Sweet Adelines – and in 2012 received honorary mention in the Regional “Spirit of 26” competition recognizing her contribution to the chorus.
